As I embark on my journey along the historic Route 66, I have a vision of how I would like to capture the nostalgia and Americana of America’s Main St. This includes capturing the trip not only on my modern digital camera, but also on film using my Pentax K1000 camera and 12 rolls of Kodak Ektar 100 film, and then this is the Disposable Camera Project.
The idea behind this art project is that I want to have a stranger at various stops along Route 66 take my photo with a FujiFilm QuickSnap Camera. Give them the freedom to pose, set up the shot of me as they see fit. See how the world wants to frame me as a stranger. In turn, I will try to set up the same shot of them on a secondary QuickSnap camera. I am handing out a card to those who agree to participate in this project, corresponding to the photo on the disposable camera. This will allow them to see the photos on the other side of my trip and get a free print sent to them.
